The Mk1 was smaller, more angular and straight lines.

The Mk2 was larger and had softer lines.

Nice little bumper early euro golf. I like the euro mirrors and wing vents.. single rounds weren’t as common in NA.. Dropped on a cupkit hopefully..

Tbh I thought it was the lights. One a side on the first, two on the second gen.

You were sort of there, it’s all a bit muddled .

Early Mk1 Golfs had two headlights 1976 Mk1

Then later got four. 1978 Mk1

But some kept two,

19 81 Mk1

The Mk2 was the same, some had two, 1985 Mk2

four, 1991 Mk2

later having two, squared headlights.

1991 Mk2

I used to think it was the GTis that got the four headlights, but I was wrong too.

1983 Mk1 GTi
